Fletcher Cove Park

Fletcher Cove is Solana Beach's front porch twice over — a ramp down to the sand below, and a full blufftop park above it. The playground got a ground-up renovation in June 2023: swings, an ADA-accessible net structure, a slide, monkey bars, and a "boogie board" for practicing surf pop-ups on dry land, plus a separate area built for kids under 5 with a mini clubhouse and sensory panels. The rubber safety surface carries a whale design. The half-court basketball court next to it was resurfaced the same year with a new hoop and backboard.

The park is named for Colonel Ed Fletcher, an early-1900s San Diego developer, and the bluff still carries a piece of that history most visitors walk right past: World War II-era concrete gunnery installations built into the hillside. The 2023 renovation's landscape architects shot drone photography from the same spot as a 1923 photo Fletcher himself took, a century apart.

Above the sand, Fletcher Cove Community Center (133 Pacific Ave) is the park's other half — meeting rooms, classes, and rentals for weddings and private events. The park itself hosts Fiesta del Sol, Beach Blanket Movie Night, beach cleanups, and art shows through the year, and doubles as the default spot for a daily walk, run, or beach yoga class.
