Privacy policy.

If you sign up for the Thursday newsletter, we store the email address you give us ourselves — in our own database, not just with a third party — along with which page you signed up from and the date. That's it for anything tied to you personally — there are no accounts, no passwords, and no profiles to fill out.

Like almost every website, this one also uses analytics to understand which pages get visited and how the site is used. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity (which can record anonymized session replays — how a page was scrolled and clicked), and Clicky, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz. These tools use cookies or similar identifiers; they don't receive your name or email address from us.

We hold your email address to send you Solana Beach Weekly — the Thursday issue, plus the occasional standalone email from us, which may include a message from a local sponsor. We keep it for as long as you're subscribed, plus a short window after you unsubscribe in case of billing/delivery disputes, then it's deleted.

Your email is stored in our own Supabase database and, once an issue is ready to send, also passed to Beehiiv, our email provider, which handles delivery and unsubscribes. Beehiiv has its own privacy policy governing how it handles that data.

The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare, which also provides security protection (like blocking bot traffic). Analytics data is processed by Google (Analytics / Tag Manager), Microsoft (Clarity), and Clicky under their own privacy policies. None of them get your email address from us.

We never rent out your email address, and we never sell it to data brokers or list buyers. Every email comes from us: if a local business sponsors an issue or a dedicated send, we write and send it ourselves — sponsors never see the list.

One honest caveat: if SolanaBeach.com itself ever changed hands, the subscriber list would transfer with the site as part of it — still bound by this policy, still with an unsubscribe link in every email.

Every newsletter issue has an unsubscribe link at the bottom — one click and you're off the list, no login required. You can also use the "remove my email" link on our contact page, or email kendall@oceanviewmarketing.com directly, and we'll delete your address from our database.

If you're a California resident, state law (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, the right to request that it be deleted, and the right to opt out of its sale — which is easy here, since we don't sell personal information in the first place.

To exercise any of these rights, email kendall@oceanviewmarketing.com with your request. We'll respond and, where applicable, delete your information from our newsletter list within a reasonable time.
